As a former wrestling champion of New England, and 1975 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Dr. Maynard has participated in every sport imaginable. His passion for sports continues today as he specializes in the treatment of all sports-related injuries, with particular emphasis on shoulder, hip, and knee injuries. In addition to treating professional athletes, for almost 20 years Dr. Maynard has been the team physician for over a thousand athletes fielded annually by Marist and Vassar Colleges. Recently, Marist College dedicated their athletic training facility as the "Dr. Michael J. Maynard Center for Sports Medicine." Between the two schools, Dr. Maynard has had the opportunity to treat the entire spectrum of sports-related injuries, including but not limited to repair of clavicle non-unions and mal-unions, hamstring tendon reattachment to the pelvis, advanced arthroscopic techniques for shoulder, hip, knee, ankle, wrist and elbow disorders, and minimally invasive techniques for joint replacement.
